First Day of Kindergarten

So at the ripe old age of 5 I sent my Brevin to the wolves. I had been dreading this day since he was born. All summer everyone would say, "You're 5! Are you excited to go to kindergarten?" His reply..."No."

After we had gone into back to school (and his friends Alyssa & Adi showed him his classroom and kept saying how nice his teacher was) we got in the car and he said, "I'm a tiny bit excited and a tiny bit scared." So we talked it over and as I pretended to be excited for him to go to school he said, "What are you guys going to do when I'm not at home." I told him, "Miss you like crazy!" He got this big grin on his face like he just needed to hear that he would be missed.

The night before the big day Brevin (and I) were awfully anxious. He asked Bryson to give him a blessing and as soon as it was over he looked so relieved.

As soon as we got in the car I lost it, and headed to the grocery store to keep myself busy. Just as we finished Kesler asked, "Why didn't brudder come with us?" I lost it again. I still hate it, but we are getting used to it. The worst so far was when he came home two days in a row and told me the kids on his table were saying words that make his belly feel yucky. I really like his teachers and get to go in every Monday to help so that makes it a bit easier. Still no one be shocked if my children end up home schooled!

Way to go! You haven't pulled him out yet and you've survived the first couple of weeks. It's hard to send the first one off to kindergarten!

Very sweet pictures! I feel your pain. I think Junior High this year was actually worse for me than when I sent Bo to kindergarten. It is so hard sending them at all!!

I hear ya sister! I cried when I took Brylee to pre-school! What will happen when she finally starts kindergarten! She's my baby and I don't want her to grow up any faster than she already is!!! :(

Oh...that's sad! I bet it is hard to send the first one. Glad you get to go in once a week though, I always loved to have my mom in the classroom!

I cannot believe it! Brevin used to only be able to say my name when he saw us, "Ruh-shell", and now he's off to school? Wow! I guess it has been 4 years since we've lived in Twin now...that is crazy. You have the cutest boys ever. I don't blame you for wanting to home school. It's a scary world out there, but you've raised them smart! You are an awesome mom. Good luck.
